Cook enough for the week in one go and freeze in meal proportion sizes. Also look for reduced items in the supermarkets especially anything that can be frozen and used later i.e bread, meat, fish. Reduced short shelve life items such as vegetables and fruit while need consuming within a couple of days have always been perfectly alright in my experience.
Pad out meat dishes with beans and add spices to make more tasty! If you must have fizzy drinks buy squash and add carbonated water and ice.

Reduces cost of using the cooker, quality home made food ready quickly. Reduced items in the Supermarkets can get you some really good quality food at a substantially reduced price!
