Tip - build safe walking and cycling infrastructure

This one is a bit niche as it requires you to be a local highway authority. If you do find yourself in that position then you could think about making it a bit easier to walk and cycle around our towns.

Why the contribution is important

Millions have and are being spent on our road network, encouraging those who can afford it to get in their cars and those that can't must put up with horrible conditions for walking and cycling.

It costs a lot of money to run a car - help people to use alternatives.

I can no longer drive but I like cycling. Surely with global warming people need to be encouraged to walk and cycle and with the rise in cost of living people need to feel confident cycling which is free and good for your health. Today I had to cycle round a bus which is really dangerous. Suely road space need to be shared more equally between cars, cyclists and pedestrians. We have a problem of parked cars which take up space which could be used for cyclists

Another shout in favour of safe walking and cycling infrastructure. I am regular cyclist - happily covering 20-30 miles on a weekend ride in the lanes - but there is absolutely no way I will venture onto a main road or into a town during the week. For me a town run is no more than 10 mile there and back and run to the local supermarket is 4 miles. I would not even contemplate cycling for either purpose.

Definitely need safer cycling facilities - I cycle slowly but relatively confidently around town (though I have issues with parking my bike in many places - there are simply not enough racks). but my wife is scared of cycling on her own, let alone with our daughter, which means that I have to cycle with them if they need to go somewhere; lost working hours when our country needs more taxes.

I do cycle regularly but am constantly feeling unsafe. Please please please do this. I save £100s a year cycling instead of driving and that's just around town

I would love to cycle into work and to get to the town center etc, but I don't due to the dangerous roads if have to cycle on.
I don't like driving due to the cost and impact on global warming, but at the moment I have no real other choice most of the time as I do not feel safe enough to cycle. Please build better walking and cycling routes.

Even to the local shop, if there was an shortcut through the housing estates it would be so much quicker and do many more people would walk

Some minor, and low-cost measures might encourage more people to cycle and walk:
1 Education on the new Highway Code requirements to give priority to cyclists and pedestrians
2 Enforcement of speed limited (and signage), especially the 20mph limit in Warwick which is ignored by many motorists
3 Encouraging families to walk and cycle on the school run.

Building safe walking and cycling infrastructure enhances community health and reduces traffic congestion. Prioritize dedicated lanes, well-marked crossings, and secure bike storage to encourage eco-friendly transportation. Investing in such infrastructure not only benefits residents but also promotes a more sustainable and accessible urban environment.

Investing in safe walking and cycling infrastructure enhances community well-being and environmental health. By prioritizing well-designed sidewalks, bike lanes, and crossings, local authorities can promote active transportation, reduce traffic congestion, and foster healthier lifestyles. It's a smart, sustainable choice that benefits everyone in our towns. https://spellingbeenyt.net/
